About Rooted in Her Story

Every woman has a story worth telling.
Barbara’s journey has been shaped by overcoming profound personal challenges: losing her father at 17, navigating early adulthood with responsibility well beyond her years, surviving domestic violence, racist attack, healing from grief, enduring serious health issues including early menopause, a hysterectomy, gastric bypass, and two hip replacements, and still finding the strength to rebuild, reinvent, and rise.
Meet Barbara
Award-winning Entrepreneur, wellness advocate, motivational speaker
But her story doesn’t stop at survival—it’s about transformation.
Barbara’s entrepreneurial journey is rooted in the very experiences that tested her the most. From her EDI Training businesses launched in response to hate crime, to building Take Good Care, a wellness lifestyle brand born from her own experience of burnout and a need for radical self-care. Each venture reflects her belief that pain can be a powerful teacher. Through more than 18 jobs and 14 businesses, Barbara has shown that life’s hardest moments often carry the seeds of our greatest purpose.
She lives by the truth that things happen for us, not to us, so that we learn, grow, and eventually pass that wisdom on to others. This is the heart of legacy.
Rooted in Her Story is not just a website—it’s a movement. It’s a call to women everywhere to reclaim their narratives, stand in their truth, and step into their power. Whether you join through a talk, a coaching session, or one of Barbara’s online offerings, this space is for you. For your healing. For your voice. For your next chapter.

🌿 You are more than what happened to you
🌿 Healing is possible—and powerful
🌿 Self-care is a radical act of love and courage
🌿 Sharing our stories helps others rise too
